What Is Dapp University?

Dapp University is an educational resource aimed to teach users to build their own blockchain apps, DApps (decentralized applications), and crowd-sale smart contracts, among other things. Educational content is delivered via a website and the Dapp University YouTube channel.

Dapp University’s tutorials have a step-by-step format and are primarily delivered via YouTube videos. There are a number of text tutorials as well on the Dapp University website. Most of the tutorials are available to anyone via the Dapp University YouTube channel or website, while some are incorporated in the Dapp University Bootcamp program.

Dapp University was founded by Gregory McCubbin. In the years since its founding, Dapp University has become one of the pre-eminent examples of the rise of engineering and coding jobs within the crypto industry, which has expanded as dramatically as has the overall market cap of the crypto space.

Dapp University Bootcamp incorporates several video tutorials aimed to help students become blockchain developers. McCubbin claims to provide all the skills necessary for a blockchain developer.

Bootcamp is free, but students are requested to supply their name and email address to gain access to the educational material. McCubbin sends links to his YouTube video tutorials via email on a daily basis.

The YouTube videos that are part of Bootcamp are unlisted, so only those who McCubbin shares their web links with can watch them.

Dapp University Free Tutorials

McCubbin periodically publishes free blog tutorials on the Dapp University website. The blog tutorials are supplemented by video tutorials.

As of the time of this writing, the homepage of the Dapp University website featured the following blog tutorials:

How To Build A Blockchain App

I’m going to show you how to create your first blockchain application with Ethereum, Web3.js, and Solidity smart contracts. You don’t have to know anything about blockchain to follow along. I’ll teach you from scratch.

Build Your First Blockchain Application

Today I’m going to show you how to build your first blockchain application! Let’s create a todo list powered by Ethereum smart contracts. First, we’ll create a smart contract with the Solidity programming language. Then, we’ll write tests against the smart contract, and deploy it to a blockchain. Finally, we’ll create a client side application to for the todo list.

The Ultimate Ethereum Dapp Tutorial

Today I’m going to show you how to build your first decentralized application, or dApp, on the Ethereum blockchain. I’ll show you how to write your first Ethereum smart contract, where we’ll hold an election between two candidates. We’ll write tests against the smart contract, deploy it to the Ethereum blockchain, and develop a client-side application that allows accounts to cast votes. We’ll also examine key concepts like “what is a blockchain?”, “what is a smart contract?”, and “how does a dApp work?”.

Code Your Own Cryptocurrency on Ethereum

Today I’m going to show you how to code your own cryptocurrency on the Ethereum blockchain and sell it! I’ll show you how to create your own ERC-20 token and crowd sale step-by-step with Ethereum smart contracts, how to test the smart contracts, how to deploy the smart contracts to the Ethereum blockchain, and how to build an ICO website deployed to the web. I’ll also explain what an ERC-20 token is, how an Ethereum token works, how an initial coin offering (ICO) works.

The Bootstrapper and White Glove plans offer a prepackaged set of services (as listed earlier, with White Glove additionally including “World Class Designers” and “Brand Identity”).

Dapp University YouTube Channel

The Dapp University YouTube channel contains additional tutorials, as well as videos covering recent developments in the cryptocurrency/blockchain space. McCubbin joined YouTube on January 12, 2018.

Early Dapp University videos were primarily focused on providing development advice, while more recent videos are typically centered around developing trends in the industry. McCubbin also occasionally live streams.

Dapp University On GitHub

McCubbin shares project samples (repositories) on the GitHub software development and version control platform. The projects are written in JavaScript, HTML, Python, and Solidity (a programming language co-created by Ethereum co-founder and Polkadot founder Gavin Wood to write smart contracts).

Among the most popular repositories of McCubbin on GitHub is “election”. “Election” is a tutorial on building decentralized Ethereum voting applications. Other notable projects are “starter_kit” (focused on building full-stack DApps) and “token_sale” (focused on coding Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies and ICOs).

Dapp University On Social Networks

In addition to YouTube, McCubbin is present on Twitter. He uses the platform to share his latest YouTube videos, and he also occasionally covers industry trends and news.
