Unbounce Overview

Unbounce is a landing page creator that helps websites convert more of their visitors into leads and, eventually, customers. The platform provides an intuitive drag-and-drop builder and a wide range of templates that allows users to fully customize their landing pages for both desktop and mobile without the help of a developer.

Company Info

The company was founded in 2009 by CEO Rick Perreault, along with five co-founders in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The company’s description on LinkedIn reads as follows:

“Unbounce started in 2009 when “landing pages” were little more than a buzzword. Today we’re the world’s leading landing page platform with a workplace of over 195 people and over 10 very good office dogs. As one of Canada’s fastest-growing tech companies with offices in both Vancouver and Berlin, Unbounce has powered over 1 Billion conversions to date and serves more than 15,000 customers worldwide.”

Talking about Unbounce’s growth, an article published on globalnewswire.com about Unbounce receiving private-equity funding, stated that

“Since its founding in 2009, Unbounce has experienced consistent year over year growth and has now powered over one billion conversions around the world. Its AI-powered platform enables marketers to quickly and efficiently create and optimize high converting landing pages without the need for a developer.

The sizable investment comes at a time when businesses across the world, both large and small, are prioritizing digital as their main channel for new sales and growth. The company will use this capital to accelerate its ambition to deliver accessible and affordable AI-powered conversion optimization solutions to SMBs, and plans to increase its headcount by 50 percent over the next three years.”

A recent article by Sean Silcoff for theglobeandmail.com mentioned the following when talking about the company’s annual revenue:

The 200-person company, which generates US$24-million in annual revenue, is “the clear market leader in conversion optimization” – maximizing the number of website visitors who become revenue-generating customers – said Crest Rock partner Steve Johnson in a statement.

According to Unbounce’s LinkedIn page:

  • The company was founded in 2009.
  • Their headquarters is located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Unbounce Pricing

The website offers four diverse pricing plans targeting different user groups.

These include:

  • “Launch” which costs $80 a month or $72 a month if billed annually.
  • “Optimize” which costs $120 a month or $108 a month if billed annually.
  • “Accelerate” which costs $200 a month or $180 a month if billed annually.
  • “Scale” which costs $300 a month or $270 a month if billed annually.

To make it easy to determine the best tier for a business, the pricing page also features a slider that allows users to input the number of conversions they are targeting, the number of visitors on their landing page, and lastly, the number of domains.  Following this, the slider adjusts the pricing accordingly.

Below is a screenshot of what the slider looks like on the Unbounce pricing page.

Unbounce vs Clickfunnels

A common topic for comparison- seen on a variety of online platforms- seems to be the question of “Unbounce Vs Clickfunnels”.

The two products appear to have the same basic purpose (building landing pages and sales funnels), as well as similar pricing scales (around $100 – $300 in both cases depending on your plan).

Both Clickfunnels and Unbounce each have many loyal customers, and both have stellar reputations in the market. As a result the question of which one is better likely comes down to each marketer’s specific needs and how well the features of each SaaS fit those needs.

Salesfunnelhq.com gave the edge to Clickfunnels, stating:

If you are not tech savvy and are looking for a software that is the easiest to use, we recommend going with Clickfunnels . Although Unbounce has similar features, Clickfunnels is very intuitive and will give you more options for optimization.

Clickfunnels also has its own auto-responder, which will save you time in the long run. Autoresponders help increase your sales and help you get to know your customers.

Fetchprofits.com, on the other hand, gives their recommendation to Unbounce, stating:

Unbounce’s most expensive pricing plan is at $300 per month (which includes a lot). Most businesses will do very well with just the brand new plans starting at $80 per month.

Clickfunnels tries to overdo things if you ask me.

  • Lets you build funnels fast? Yes. But you are templated for life.
  • Clickfunnels wants you to use its own email marketing tools. Ok. But why? I could just use Drip or Mailchimp (each of which comes with so much power).
  • Allows you to build a complete affiliate system with backpack? Yes. But why? You could use Shareasale for that.

Here’s the deal-breaker: Clickfunnels starts at $97 and the full suite is for $297. That’s a lot of money for any average business (while taking away half the freedom for small businesses, bloggers, and everyone else needs).

For me, the winner is Unbounce. Period.
